MACHEL MONDAY - The Return Concert

The show was off the hook, and even though I missed the opening performance by Benjai and company, I made it in time for the main act, Mr. Montano. At first I was a little bit turned off by the set up of the venue. VIP was at the front of the stage with a barricade at the back separating the "VIPs" or should I say "Platinum" crowd from the general section. I chose to get the general admission ticket since I figured I wasn't getting my money's worth doing VIP. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the VIPs did get a better view of the stage and us general admissions folk were left in the nose bleed section. Machel looked like a tiny spec from where I was standing. Thank God for the large screens. 

I missed Benjai and portions of Kes and his band. I made it just in time to see the end of Kes' performance. I actually listened to Kes perform while on my way to the stadium. He sounded great and if his performance was similar to what  I've seen from him so far I know he did a great job. Mr Montano's performance was the best I've seen from him all season (and I've seen him quite a few times already). He  came back with a BANG. I enjoyed his entire set, he brought back some great memories. He sang all my favorites even the ones he rarely sings. The band had loads of energy, dancers were on point and extremely fit (i envy them and their flat abs). Machel himself seemed to have been working out or maybe it's just the hectic carnival season affecting his metabolism. All in all I'll give the show a 10/10. I most certainly enjoyed every moment of it and would definitely recommend this fete to anyone coming to Trinidad for carnival. My only other issue with the show besides the  set up was the fact that he DID NOT perform Jumbie. That's Blasphemy!
